CCCAP launches in China

  The International Potato Center(CIP)- China Center for the Asia-Pacific Region (CCCAP)was launched in Yanqing County, Beijing on July 28, 2015. Minister Han Changfu, Vice Mayor of Beijing Lin Keqing and General Director of CIPBarbara Wells attended and addressed theopeningceremony.

  Minister Han Changfu pointed out that the establishment of CCCAP is a milestone in bilateral cooperation, providing a new platform for broader cooperation in the future. The Chinese government will actively support the development of CCCAP in order to make ita world-class potato research centerwith comprehensive disciplines and fine facilities in the region. Minister Han Changfu believed that under joint efforts CCCAP will bring new opportunities to the potato industry of China and the region, and make new contributions to global food security andpoverty alleviation and development.

  Barbara Wells extended her thanks to the Chinese government, the Ministry of Agriculture and the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality for their great support of physical, financial and human resources. CIP will work hard and make new R&D achievements as the return to China, the Asia-Pacific Region and the world, and further enhance global food security.

  Vice Minister Qu Dongyu chaired the opening ceremony. Chief Economist Bi Meijia attended the ceremony.
